'I really wanted to put something together that will layer me up for the Dutch winds'
Brands
Tell us a little about your outfit. Which items are you wearing and why did you combine them?
I really wanted to style the Woodbird Mia Pleat Twill Skirt. And the Mizuno Sneakers... I am in love with the Wave Prophecy LS model. So then, I really wanted to put something together that will layer me up for the Dutch winds with a little character to it. I paired the skirt with the Wong Pants from them and that was it for the bottom half. Heavy, flowy, with no clash. Base layer for me was a long sleevett from Edwin. I love their graphic designs a lot, so with the Music Channel T-Shirt I got a play of color and a warm base. Over it - a Funkie Boxy Tee to compliment the weight of the bottom half. Top it up with the Frizmworks Heavy Canvas Destroyed Work Jacket, because you have to be ready for sudden colds, stir it and garnish with a Pair of Komonos and voilà - the outfit. Oh! And a Topologie bag, can't go wrong with it to have some of my necessities on me.
What was your inspiration for this look?
There is this outfit that Bad Bunny wears in the music video for his song "Bichiyal". It is almost an exact copy of it.
What’s your favorite item in your outfit and why?
They each have something about them that I love. The colour, the stitching, the print. But I will have to say that it has to be the Mizuno Sneakers. They are my new wheels, I wear them nearly every day.
What do you enjoy most about working at Funkie House?
It has to be the frequent conversations with our guests. It doesn't necessarily have to be regarding the clothing, or what they want to buy, but rather who they are, what they do, how they go about life and what brings them in and connects to the store. Past that point is being able to show around our collections and style some of our guests. Basically, I enjoy meeting people the most and helping them put together a new outfit they are gonna love for a while.
Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
I don't know where the origin of it all is. Maybe some of it comes from the nu-metal bands that I have loved and been listening to since the age of 12, with a dash of cool people around me who put me onto new brands. I am not the one to actively follow the fashion world.
What’s your ultimate styling tip?
If you love it, wear it. Your outfit and how you style it is a form of self expression. You choose the rules it follows.
Which item from Funkie House would you recommend to everyone?
The Digiscript Heavy Long Sleeve. 100% Cotton, 100% Quality and 100% of Subtle Style. The little writings on the arms are such a nice playful detail for an otherwise toned town look.
What’s something people might not know about you?
I don't know, let's have a chat in the store and something ought to pop up. <3
